The lonely planet currently states that this is the only way to get to huacachina but actually peru hop buses have direct entry to the oasis like previously mentioned due to having the necessary license.

Depending on what time you arrive in huacahina ica the first thing youre going to want to do is head over to south americas only natural desert oasis which is just a short walk from anywhere inside the village.
The huacachina oasis in peru is the only natural oasis in south america. Sandboarding down the mammoth huacachina sand dunes is another one of the best things to do when visiting this amazing peru oasis. The water does not look very clean and unfortunately theres litter and garbage here and there.
It is about five kilometers from the city of ica in the ica district of ica province.
